Stop Those Annoying Pop-Up Messages That Appear On Your Desktop...

PC's running Microsoft Windows NT/2000/XP Operating Systems may be at risk of receiving these annoying messages. These messages are sent by Spammers who take advantage of vulnerable systems, causing messages to appear on the computers desktop. Below is an example of a popup message.

Typically this functionality is used by Network Administrators to inform users of a system maintenance event. PC's connected to the internet which have the Messenger service started can also be sent messages, typically in the form of some advertisement. You can be prevent Spammers from annoying you with these messages by following five simple steps listed below.

Step # 1). On your desktop, right click on My Computer.

Step # 2). Then click Manage

Step # 3). Expand Services and Applications

Step # 4). Scroll down the list of Services and locate Messenger, right click the Messenger service and click Properties.

Step # 5). Change Startup type: to Disabled or Manual if not already selected, click the Stop button then the OK button.

If you follow these procedures carefully, you should be able to safely disable your systems messenger service, and stop these annoying pop-up messages. I assume no responsibility for damages you may suffer following these procedures. Use them at your own risk. But let me also say, I've followed these procedures maybe hundreds of times, without any negative consequences.
